NAMKEEN JAVE RECIPE (VERMICELLI PULAO)

This is one of the favourite North Indian breakfast recipes loved by all. Q simple, quick recipe for a yummy breakfast. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 20 grams vegetable oil

  • 100 grams vermicelli

  • 3 grams cumin seeds

  • 1 gram carom seeds

  • 100 grams onion - chopped

  • 4 grams green chili - chopped

  • 70 grams potato - chopped

  • 70 grams tomato - chopped

  • 1.5 grams ground turmeric

  • 6.5 grams salt

  • 120 grams peas

  • 2 grams ground red chilli powder

  • 20 grams coriander leaves

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Heat a pan on medium heat and then add 1 tbsp of cooking oil.

  • Add vermicelli to the pan and then roast for 1 minute or so. You need not roast vermicelli if you get the roasted variety. Once this is done, keep it aside in a plate.

  • Heat a pan on medium heat and then add 1 tbsp of cooking oil.

  • Add cumin seeds, carom seeds, and onion. Saute for 30 seconds.

  • Add green chillies. Saute for 30 seconds.

  • Add potatoes and then saute for 20 seconds. Add tomato and saute for 1 minute.

  • Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix all the ingredients well. Add green peas, onion greens, and mix well.

  • Add red chilli powder and mix well. Cover and cook for 1 minute.

  • Add roasted vermicelli and mix it well with other ingredients.

  • Add 2.5 cups of water. Stir again. Bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover with lid and cook on low heat till water is absorbed.

  • Switch off the heat. Let it stand for 2-3 minutes with the lid on.

  • Remove the lid. Take a fork and fluff it up gently.

  • Add about 1 tsp of salt, mix well, and then cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add coriander greens.
